Background

Gluten came to us with the idea to shake up meal planning by making it super easy for anyone with dietary restrictions to eat better. We teamed up to refine the concept, focusing on creating a user-friendly app that’s all about simple, tasty recipes customized for different health needs. After lots of collaboration, we launched an MVP that helps users quickly find meals that fit their lifestyle without compromising on flavor or convenience. It’s all about making healthy eating feel effortless.

Challenge

One of the key challenges in building Gluten was creating a meaningful product without a user base to draw insights from. With no existing data, we had to rely heavily on assumptions, market research, and testing to shape the MVP. Balancing personalization with simplicity was crucial, as we needed to ensure the app could cater to various dietary needs without overwhelming users. Developing a platform flexible enough to grow with future users while keeping the initial version lean and functional was a complex but rewarding task.

Onboarding

The onboarding process for Gluten was critical in capturing comprehensive data about users' dietary preferences, dislikes, allergies, and goals. The focus was on creating an intuitive flow that allowed users to quickly input this information, ensuring we could personalize meal plans from the start. This step was vital for tailoring the app experience to each user's unique needs, making sure the recommendations were relevant and aligned with their health and taste preferences right from the beginning.

Rating meal suggestions

By using simple language like "yummy" and "ugh," the app encourages users to quickly express their reactions to meals in a fun and relatable way. This straightforward approach not only makes the experience more engaging but also helps the app better understand your tastes. These simple cues allow the app to refine recommendations based on your personal preferences, making the experience feel more intuitive and aligned with how people naturally describe food.
